2011 SVSA SPRING SOCCER SEASON WINDING DOWN!

It's been a great season! Thanks to the dedicated parents and to the STARS PLAYERS for your hard work. We seemed to miss a lot of practice due to the weather. We will practice ONE MORE TIME on Tuesday MAY 31st before SOCCER-FEST 2011. The details of soccer-fest will be posted on the STARS-WEBSITE as soon as I get the information.

I am proud to have coached this great team and want to extend a special "THANK YOU" to Coach Mike. We could not have had this great season without his back-up and support. Coach Mike was my assistant a season ot two ago and now he is a head coach for a couple other teams for Ella and his son Greg!

STARS ROCK OUT on SOGGY FIELD!!

Our Lady STARS did a great job on Saturday!! The field was just as much a competing factor as the Lady BLASTERS!!

Super-Soggy-Muddy conditions proved challenging but our SUPER STARS over-came the challenge. We had several great runs to goal and even though passing was difficult because of the high-wet-grass we prevailed and SCORED, SCORED, SCORED!!

Thank you to all of our players and for being good sports during a difficult game. We had several shin-kicks that took out a couple players temporarily but COACH MIKE & COACH TODD is proud of our players for seeing through the pain and playing on in the game!! GREAT SPORTSMAN-SHIP is an important rule!! Thank you to the parents for your support and a SPECIAL thanks to Ella's Mom for the delicious DUNKIN-DONUTS!! YUM-YUM!!

Rules to Remember

U8 games are four 12 minute quarters with 2 minute break in between quarters, and 5 minute half-time.

Games are 4v4 with NO KEEPERS.

Additionally sweeper/keeper is discouraged and will be enforced by the refs.

If a player hangs back please instruct them that they have to move up the field.

Substitutions can be made at any stoppage of play with the referees approval, and subs must be at midline prior to trying to substitute.

DO NOT SEND YOU PLAYERS ON THE FIELD UNLESS THERE IS A STOPPAGE OF PLAY AND YOU HAVE RECEIVED RECOGNITION OR CONFIRMATION FROM THE REFEREE.

Both players and coaches need to abide by this rule.

There is No offsides

All kicks are in-direct.

New for this season in an effort to get the players ready for U10 in the fall, any balls that go out of bounds over the sideline are put back in play with a throw in. Throw-ins will be taken for balls played out of bounds on the sidelines only.

Coaches must remain on the side line and a MAX of 3

Coaches are allowed with players on the players sideline.

All coaches must be registered and have completed the PA West Clearance to be on the player sideline.

NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED ON THE PLAYERS SIDE UNLESS THEY ARE REGISTERED AS A COACH.

Some Notes about Game Day:

Home team wears WHITE.
Away team wear BLUE.

Please check your schedule in advance.

Please place the spectators chairs at least 5 feet from the sidelines for player and fan safety.

Please do not drive automobiles on the fields under any circumstances.

Please abide by the SVSA Zero Tolerance Policy. Under no circumstances shall a spectator speak to a referee, opposing player or coach unless it is with encouragement.

Please refrain from coaching from the sidelines, even your own child, with the shortage of coaches that we have, you may as well volunteer and coach.

Wild enthusiastic cheering however is encouraged but sideline coaching hinders development.

Have fun and RELAX, it is just a game!
